The hot spring market is a great season to buy a house

Spring is the most popular time for housing activity. This spring fever happens for several reasons, and this is why it’s a great time to buy!

One of the best reasons to buy in the spring is because it’s the time of year that has the highest number of residential listings. So as a buyer, having far more homes for sale on the market provides a wide selection to choose from, giving you a great chance of finding exactly what you are looking for.

After the long winter, the warmer weather gets people in the mood the sell, and homes also tend to show at their best after all the snow has melted. As a buyer this benefits you as well because with the snow melted you can get a better inspection, allowing the inspector to see the home’s systems better so you can achieve more reliable results.

Families with children tend to like to buy in the spring as the timing fits nicely with the school calendar. They can likely finish out the school year in their current school and start at the new school in the fall. Usually if you buy in the spring the move will be in the summer, which is helpful as the kids are finished school and you get a break from juggling school schedules. Also people just enjoy the moving process much more in the warmer weather (this may mean more eager helpers on the day!).

So keep all this in mind if you are going to be buying a home—spring is the optimal season for your hunt!
